Real Madrid are just one point away from winning their first La Liga title since 2012 after they recorded a 4-1 win away to Celta Vigo in their outstanding league tie on Wednesday night
Cristiano Ronaldo delivered two goals for Los Blancos while Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos added one more each to give Real Madrid vital three points that have taken them back to the summit of the league and needing just one point from their final game of the season against Malaga.
Madrid have 90 points from 37 games while Barcelona have 87points from the same number of games.
First half
Ronaldo shot Real in front through the first attempt of the night blasting a clean strike past Sergio Alvarez via the legs of Gustavo Cabral to register his 19th goal against Celta in 12 games.
Celta arguably had the better of the first-half chances, though, coming close through strikes from John Guidetti and Daniel Wa$$, the latter of whom sent a fizzing free kick right down the middle.
Real also add their moments but there were no more goals in that half.
Second half
Celta, who knocked Madrid out of the Copa del Rey earlier this season and also beat Barcelona here, had lost all eight games this term that they had trailed at the break.
Any hopes of improving on that record were as good as ended a few minutes into the half after a marginally offside Ronaldo extended his career goals tally against the Sky Blues, latching on to Isco’s through-ball and tucking home off the post.
Vigo’s task was made all the more difficult on the hour as Aspas was shown a second yellow for a supposed dive inside the area, despite seemingly being shoved in the back by Sergio Ramos.
Guidetti gave Celta hope of picking up the first point in six outings but barely a minute or so later, Benzema restored the two-goal cushion for Real
Toni Kroos ended the day’s proceedings; scoring the fourth goal for the visitors in the 88th minute as champions-elect Madrid smiled away with a second 4-1 win in the space of three days
